Welcome to Qatar Academy Al Wakra!
Guided by our vision, mission and values, we are committed to excellence in education that nurtures the intellectual and personal development
of our students. Education at QAW embraces an inquiry based, culturally enriched international curriculum. Our talented teachers go above and
beyond to achieve QAW’s vision, encouraging and guiding our students to discover, learn and think creatively. Teachers collaborate and work
across subject areas to develop students’ academic skills, inspire inquiry and foster a love for learning. Our students are provided with
opportunities to reach their potential and become competent, independent, and responsible individuals who are effective members of the global
community.
With the support of Qatar Foundation, our committed Board of Governance, our professional staff of teachers and administrators, we have the
expertise to ensure that all our programs are continuously meeting the needs of our students and enhancing their learning experiences. We
have ambitious plans for the future, yet we never lose sight of what is most important, our students. At the heart of all our planning is
student learning. As the QAW community continues to focus on always putting students first, we will be able to fulfill the QAW vision and
mission, and our promise to students and their families.

Stallions are the mascot of QAW. The mascot name, “STALLIONS,” is an acronym, with each letter representing the values embodied in QAW students, staff, and community. To achieve our mission of providing the highest possible standards of education that help each student achieve excellence and develop as an independent critical thinker, a lifelong learner, and a responsible citizen, QAW has embedded the teaching, modeling, and practice of “STALLIONS” values into daily practice.

High-Quality Teaching and Learning
At QAW, learning is the acquisition of the how and why and the ability to apply and transfer that knowledge across disciplines. Teaching at QAW facilitates knowledge acquisition through an engaging and reflective student-centered, inquiry-based approach that embeds play-based learning in the Early Years and personalized learning across the divisions.
Dual Language
As a bilingual school, we are committed to supporting students’ Arabic mother tongue further development. We are also committed to promoting the acquisition and development of English through various dual-language models.
We are committed to providing students with a dual language immersion program in Arabic and English because we believe language is a core component of culture. We aim to graduate students who are bilingual and biliterate. High proficiency in both languages prepares our students for post-secondary studies and provides local and global opportunities.
Well-Being
QAW believes a positive and caring school climate is essential for student and staff well-being. We focus on developing trusting, respectful, and caring relationships among students, staff, and parents through an extensive support system in our Counseling and Pastoral Care programs and Ethics Curriculum. Child Protection and Safeguarding Policies are essential components of well-being, and all staff are highly trained and responsible in these areas.
Global Citizenship and Intercultural Teaching
QAW students are grounded in their own culture, tradition, and religion. Through access to teaching and learning that strengthens intercultural understanding, they respect the values and diversity of others. Students acknowledge their role and responsibility toward contributing to the local and global community to help create a more equitable and sustainable world.

In May 2017, Qatar Academy Al Wakra received full accreditation from two highly respected organizations that establish and maintain high standards for all levels of education. The two organizations are the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. (NEASC) and the Council of International Schools (CIS). Both organizations are committed to educational quality and the development of global citizens. In addition, QAW received an honorable report. Highlights of the reports included a commendation for taking great care in educating the whole child, including providing for social, emotional, physical, and academic development. The school’s leadership was also commended for supporting innovation and a strong commitment to positive school culture.
The International Baccalaureate also authorizes Qatar Academy Al-Wakra to offer the Diploma Programme, the Middle Years Programme, and the Primary Years Programme. As such, it has been designated an IB World School. The school became fully authorized in February 2020.
We are currently embarking on self-study to renew our accreditation with both agencies and the IB. This effort will continue until the fall semester of 2023, at which time we will have our final accreditation site visit.
In February 2022, QAW had a preliminary visit for re-accreditation by NEASC and CIS. The visit was a culmination of the self-study in preparation for the visit in which our staff reviewed all areas of the school. The visitors were very impressed with our systems and facilities as well as the teaching and learning opportunities they could see virtually. We had very few areas to monitor and consider for improvement during the self-study. A survey from CIS was forwarded to all stakeholders to gather more data for review during the self-study. The Self Study Steering Committee was formed and meetings were set for the beginning of the study during the 2022-2023 school year.
