Dear QAW Parents,   Welcome back to the 2023-24 academic school year!           This year our new principal leaders, Ms. Kholoud Al Malki, the primary school principal, and Mr. Mazen ElCheikh, the secondary school principal, along with the members of the school academic leadership team, have been working hard to prepare the school, lead teacher orientation, and plan for curriculum and co-curricular goals to ensure students are provided with engaging and enriching learning experiences through the school year.   We are excited to welcome all our students back for what promises to be a great year!  The first day of school will be on Sunday August 27th, 2023.   Introducing the new secondary school principal: I am pleased to inform you that a principal, Mazen El Cheikh, has been appointed as the secondary school principal.  Mr. Mazen has more than 20 years of experience as an educator in roles at various levels including principal, teacher, consultant, curriculum developer, literacy coach and teacher trainer. He has worked for various independent, private, and international organizations and schools in Lebanon, U.A.E., Bahrain, Egypt, Morocco, Turkey and Oman. He is also highly experienced in the (IB) International Baccalaureate program.  Mr. Mazen El Cheikh holds a B.A. in Arabic Language and a Diploma in Education from the American University of Beirut. He holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Endicott College, Massachusetts. Mazen is currently enrolled in a doctoral education program at the University of Exeter, U.K.  I am confident that with his experience and strong interpersonal skills, Mr. Mazen will be a valuable and supportive member of the QAW team.   First Day of School Procedures   Primary School (Preschool to grade 5) The first day of school for preschool to grade 5 will be a “Meet and Greet” day for parents and students to meet the teachers and get acquainted with the classrooms, schedules and school procedures.  This will take place between 7 am and 12 noon.  This is a flexible time for parents and students.   Secondary School (Grades 6 -12) Student will have a regular full day if school, first period starts at 7:00am   Gates:  The current construction around the school is expected to be semi-completed giving access to the school through gates 1 and 2 which we expect to be open before the start of the school year.  Gates will open to welcome students in school at 6:30am every day.   Let’s work together to be sure our students are off to a good start this school year by ensuring they are in school every day and on time.   I look forward to seeing you on Sunday August 27th and wish you and your family a fantastic school year ahead!     Thank you, Bedriyah Itani QAW Director
